Wood Carving – Basics

All the basic knowledge and practices for wood carving will be covered. These training programs aim to make you progress step-by-step on the different techniques of cutting, sharpening and the methodology to make different types of sculptures (knife carving – sculpture in the round – low & high relief – engravings).

Modeling of figurines

We will make bust and/or figurine from popular or artistic culture with ceroplastic (art of modeling in wax).

Anatomical studies

Here, we offer training on human and animal anatomy through drawing and ceroplastic. These studies are intended to provide the knowledge on the anatomy of the human/animal body, for the purpose of its artistic representation.

Modeling

Modeling in sculpture allows us to test a concept or design, at real or reduced scale by making a “proof”. Nowadays, we could carry out these operations with software support but we would lose the spontaneity of the hand gesture and the intuitive development/study of shapes. This training is created to give you the tools and support to “prototype” your project whatever the form or style (technical/artistic production), and thus, to progress from concept to reality!

Molding

In the continuity of modeling, molding allows producing models that are original, in small or large quantity. Once the mold is created, you will be able to decline your model in various types of materials: resin, reconstituted stone, metal derivatives or ceramic. In collaboration with other artisans, we offer you the opportunity to move to another scale of production through molding and modeling!

Assembly

Experience the fabrication of different types of assembly of cabinet-making and joinery. From mortise and tenon to dovetail joint, we provide different training sessions focusing on the fabrication by hand of one type of assembly and its variants. You will discover the advantages, disadvantages and application of each type of assembly. The goal of this training is that you know how to carry out the assemblies (tracing and fabrication) in full autonomy with our help and support.

Marquetry

Do you like puzzles? Are you patient, meticulous and creative? Then, this marquetry training is for you! In this training, you will travel through the different techniques of marquetry with the fabrication of simple objects, allowing you to express your artistic inspiration from your first steps.

Plans and drawings

Reading, creating and interpreting a plan or a drawing are essential elements in the fabrication of your projects. Our training sessions will address each of these aspects by demonstrating their application in the production process.

Tool sharpening

Sharpening tools is a very important task, which must be done with great care. The life of your tools and the quality of your work can be greatly impacted by the quality of sharpening. Discovering or perfecting these techniques for sharpening chisels, planer blades, gouges, bits, or even carving knives is the key to progress in woodworking. Discover the different techniques and improve your sharpening skills with this training!

Tool maintenance

Do you have the feeling that your old and new tools are not working properly? Maybe it is time to do some maintenance! We will focus on hand tools, without neglecting mechanical tools. From maintenance to advice on your next purchase, we will cover the different possibilities throughout this training

Finishing

Would you like to discover professional techniques to prepare your supports and apply a finish using natural products and ancestral recipes? These training sessions will give you, through practice and experimentation, the resources to create these products, and to follow by yourself these old-age recipes and techniques on wood samples!

Heraldry

The objective of this training is to discover the discipline of heraldry and to interpret the coat of arms of Europe. From terminology and design to the history of coats of arms, you will gain the knowledge needed to decode and understand the science of heraldry.

Workshop space

This course is designed to highlight the dangers of a bad arrangement and to correct it. It will allow you to have a safe and ergonomic workspace such that your passion does not become a danger to you or those around you.

Plan shop

Sale place for plans to conceive tools, workbenches or arrangements in your workshop. This space allows you putting into practice the skills acquired during training.

Private lessons

Individual and personalized training covering whole aspects of a discipline. The goal is to give you the knowledge and know-how through manufacture and exercises. This custom-based training is developed according to your needs.

Coaching

Individual advice and support to accompany you in the manufacture of your projects. The goal is to provide you with the knowledge and know-how adapted to your project, by putting my expertise at your disposal to anticipate, overcome or avoid obstacles.

Certification/authentication

Discover and integrate authentication and certification processes into the production phase of your projects.

Contracts

Protecting ourselves and our production is important but difficult to implement! Protecting our interests is becoming essential nowadays, but what kind of protection exists? At what cost? What is a non-disclosure agreement (NDA)? When, with whom, and how to set it up? Can I protect my copyright? Do I need to hire a lawyer? These are all confusing issues for the uninitiated, and sample contracts may be unclear, inappropriate, or unsuitable for your needs. All these questions will be addressed in this training.
