Study of the Anatomy

Description:

The representation of living animals requires a precise knowledge of the anatomy or the shape and structure of living organisms. The skeleton, joints and muscular system of a human being determine its proportions and body movements. We will study the different proportions, muscles, bones and external organs through the study of poses and drawings.

Planning:

• Anatomy of the male and female human body (Skeleton / muscles / external organs)
• Study of bones and muscles / Study of movement
• Theories of proportions / Ancient and modern aesthetic canon.
• Notions about facial construction.

Description:

This course constitutes a follow up of the course on human anatomy. Here, you will learn about the different proportions, musculature, bones and external organs of different animals, through the study of poses and drawing. This course aims at providing the knowledge and the keys to understand the models in order to produce your own creations.

Planning:

• Anatomical work on the horse, dog, cat, sheep, bear, deer and lion.
• Study of movement & Comparative study of human vs animal
• Comparative anatomical study on bones – muscles – hand/foot bones – upper limb/thoracic muscles.

Description:

The goal of this training is to put into practice the knowledge acquired during the course on human anatomy. We provide advices, knowledge and know-how to improve your drawing and/or modeling skills. On the other hand, the work sessions are based on drawings or modeling from a live model (man or woman) in order to complete your anatomical knowledge. These sessions allow you to progress in autonomy while benefiting from individual advice.

Planning:

Accompaniment in the conception of modeling / drawing (preparatory work)
• Individual advice on materials and execution techniques.
• Group exchange on techniques and local suppliers.
• Provision of tools
• Provision of a suitable space

Note: Cost of raw material not included; supplies possible at a professional rate.

Description:

Facial expression is one of the most complex products of the human body to represent. It is largely thanks to it that we finalize the “message” that we wish to transmit through our work! Knowledge of the anatomical bases of facial expressions is a prerequisite. Through this training we will approach the different muscles of the face at play in various facial expressions and their impact on the modeling of the face. We will focus on the mouth, nose, eyes and ears by making a proof in wax with an imposed expression. Our goal is to develop a personal methodology to highlight the interactions between the different facial muscles and to transcribe the facial expression in a coherent way on the proof. Note: plan for the transport of your work after the course (plaster skull on which your work will be affixed)!

Planning:

• In-depth study of the eyes – nose – ears – mouth.
• Study of the interactions between muscles in facial expressions
• Fabrication of a wax proof on a plaster skull provided by the instructor.
• Establishment of the preparatory phases of modeling
• Notions about the anatomy of the skull / Larynx muscles / Neck muscles.

Training methodology:

Interactive teaching: Interactive teaching allows teaching by actively involving trainees in the learning processes through regular instructor/learner and learner/learner interactions. This method focuses on the understanding and meaning of the course content as opposed to merely memorizing them by rote. Learners are constantly encouraged to be active participants.

Experiential learning: Experiential learning is a learning approach through experience, which directly places learners in situations that reflect reality. This approach is based on the learning process rather than on the results (concrete experimentation, reflective observation). The instructor adapts to the learner’s level. The learner will make the group progress by being actively involved in the training and by sharing experiences. This training approach aims to promote the development of learners’ autonomy.

Project-based training: The learner produces his own work project at his own pace, independently. The instructor is present to accompany the learner when he/she encounters difficulties and provides support, advice or suggestions for experimentation to move forward in the project. The goal is to equip the learner with methods, techniques and knowledge so that he/she can accurately analyze and evaluate the production process of his/her project and solve problems with flexibility.
